Where to eat… Bus Stop, Brighton

http://www.busstop.biz/bus-stop-food-menu

I’ve never had particularly good experiences with caribbean food. There tends to only be about one, maybe two options, and it’s just not my type of food.

I was pleasantly surprised by Bus Stop. It is a small restaurant, and was really busy, so i would recommend booking.

The veggie options (for main) are:

  • The Beanie Bowl – a medley of 10 different beans stewed with yam, plantain, pumpkin, sweet potato, tomato, thyme, scotch bonnet and coconut milk. Served with herb toast.
  • Chickpea Veggie Wrap – Chickpea patty served in a wrap with roasted red peppers, lettuce and homemade tomato relish. With spicy fries or salad.
  • Pumpkin and Dhal Roti – Curried squash, potato and chana dhal bean medley. Served with picked cucumber, a mango tamarind chutney and dhal puri roti,

I chose the pumpkin and dhal roti, served in roti (you can have it on the side). It was big. You definitely won’t go hungry here, It was as good a curry as i’ve had, and it was well spiced. There is also a big selection of cocktails, if you like that kind of thing!
